It’s no secret (I hope) that I’m a wedding planner.
I’m not here today to sell you on hiring me, or any wedding planner if that’s not what you want.
What I am going to do is explain how you can use a wedding planner to fill in the gaps and take care of the things that you don’t want to do.
So here goes…ways to use a wedding planner to create your perfect wedding.
START OFF RIGHT
Whether you opt to hire a planner to help with everything, or just here and there, the one place you should always consult with one is right off the start. A planner will help you figure out your priorities, and then make a plan based on what’s right for you. They’ll help you make a custom budget and planning timeline so you know where to invest your time and money.
TRICKY BITS
When you run into a part of wedding planning that you really don’t want to do, or isn’t your strong suit, just hand it off to a planner! If you’re super organized, but couldn’t style decor if your life depended on, let a planner pull the design together for you. If you’d like to spend all your time DIYing beautiful things and hate making lists, have a planner do organization stuff for you. There are lots of planners with lots of different skills. Find one who fits with yours and you can each do what you’re best at.
MANAGING VENDORS
In my opinion, nothing is harder about a wedding than managing all the people you need to hire. Between finding them, vetting them, booking them, and arranging all the details, it is a monster task. A planner can help with all of these tasks. If you just want recommendations for the best fit for you, consult a planner. If you’d like someone to go to all the meetings with you (or for you), then a planner will be there to have your back the whole way through. And when it comes to making all the arrangements, that’s what we’re best at!
Sidenote: While some vendors prefer not to work with a planner, I think that comes from either not working with planners before, or working with the wrong one. When you have a good wedding planner, it will make everyone else’s job easier. Because when things go wrong, your other vendors are the ones scrambling to pick up the pieces. Your wedding planner is your personal wedding problem solver, and that frees up everyone else to do what they’re supposed to be doing…including you, soaking in every moment of your engagement and wedding day.
YOUR WEDDING DAY
On your wedding day, you do not want to be answering all the questions that will inevitably come up all day long. And I’m guessing you don’t want any of your guests having to either. Let alone handling all the little hiccups that come up throughout the day. You deserve to be totally present in the moment and completely wrapped up in the love you’re sharing. Having a wedding planner manage your day is the way to make this a reality. The best wedding planners make their ‘invisible work’ look seamless and simple, but have no doubt, these days are full of a thousand little tasks that make your wedding perfect.
I’m sure you’ve attended weddings before where the wedding party and family are running around the whole time taking care of things. When you use a wedding planner to fill in the gaps for you, you can avoid having this happen to you. The best part about wedding planning is that it’s not all or nothing! You can ask a planner to do as much or as little as you like (we may not all offer all these options, but there is a fit for everyone)!
So take the next step in creating your perfect wedding by using a wedding planner in the way that’s right for you!
