Wedding Inspiration: Palm Springs In Saskatchewan

This April, I had the privilege of collaborating with an amazing group of ladies to create this Palm Springs wedding inspiration for you.  We wanted to showcase how amazingly creative local Swift Current vendors can be!  Just because it may seem that Swift Current is off the beaten path, your wedding doesn’t have to lack style.  Each of these vendors is also a young woman running her own business.  Most of these businesses are only a year or two into their life and it was so exciting to work with all these women who are on the leading edge of trends in our community.  Girl bosses have the most fun!

Our shoot will be featured next month on Sask Ever After, but I selfishly wanted to be the first to share!  Here’s a sneak peek at my favourite images and a little something on all the girl bosses so you can get the same creativity for your special day.

Inspiration

The barn at Gloryview Farm & Ranch provided shelter from the storm outside and a beautiful canvas to create the perfect day.  The DIY backdrop was created the cut paper sewn into strands and hung from a eucalyptus garland.  It was surprisingly easy to create.  Once I figured out the Cricut it took me less than two hours from start to finish!  Once all the pieces were in place we hung it from the rafters with fishing line.

Kelsey created this stunning set up to take photos.  If you can’t find a perfect location for your photo session, create your own!  FYI: I think she’s selling this rug if it hasn’t been snatched yet!

Our wonderful models are a local couple who have been married for over eight years and were up for some well deserved anniversary shots.  Their wedding duds got a little update and they were ready to go!

I am in love with this seating chart!  The custom copper frame is my one of my favourite elements of the whole shoot.

The cake was perfectly off set by this stunning succulent tower.  If you want to fill in your decor, but don’t want to purchase a whole bunch of flowers, consider asking a florist if they would rent out plants.  And never underestimate thrift store shopping!  Little trinkets are just waiting to be discovered and used to fill in empty spaces.

A little juice bar filled in the other end of the cake table.  The perfect antidote to a hot summer day, we’ve had a few of those this summer!

We reused our backdrop to frame a stunning modern sweetheart table.  I don’t what I love more, those flowers or that table!

Long tables are popping up everywhere these days.  They allow for easy conversation and fit more guests into your space.  My personal favourite is a unique configuration of different sizes and shapes.

Collaborators: The Girl Bosses

Candace Schwartz: Bumble & Vine Photography

Of course I have no photo of the photographer!  Always behind the camera, Candace captured every detail of our collaboration and brought out the fun and depth of intimacy of our models.  You can find her on her website under Jackson Designs as she transitions to her new name.  A true creative, you can also find Candace’s jewellery for sale at Bumble & Vine Store.

 Kerry & Jessica: Wildflower Florist

Kerry and Jessica have created a unique floral experience at Wildflower Florist.  They celebrated one year in business this spring and offer lots of interesting classes and workshops to share their love of flowers.  They work wonderfully together and make it easy and fun to work with them.  You can find them online as Wildflower Florist SK.

Kelsey Grose: Farmer’s Daughter Interiors & Design

Kelsey also celebrated one year in business this year and she has had quite a year!  Check out her blog for more on how quickly she has made a name for herself in the interior design community.  Although you may not think of interior design as a wedding service, Kelsey was an amazing addition to our team.  She sourced all the furniture and most of the accessories and helped us put them together in a beautiful showcase.  Once your big day is done, Kelsey will create your new home together!

Amy Jorgensen: Amy Jorgensen Design

Amy created our beautiful stationery and I couldn’t have been happier!  She recently took the plunge and turned her hobby into a full on business.  Her expertise and eye for detail make her a great choice to create personalized stationery for your whole wedding.  From invitations to menu cards to custom door hangers, she can help you make your stationery perfectly tailored to your event.  Find her on Facebook.

Terrilyne Swanson: Makeup By Terrilyne

Terrilyne uses your unique beauty to create a work of art.  Her easy conversation makes sitting in a chair fun and relaxing while she transforms your look.  Her work is showcased in our collaboration on the bride, Kelsey, Amy, myself and obviously, her own look.  I asked her to make me look older and I couldn’t believe how well it worked!  You can see more of her work on her Facebook page.

Nakita Gleim: Ivory & Elm Design

Nakita is another brand new business owner this year.  Her new studio is so beautiful…almost as beautiful as her skillful hair styling!  Nakita was also busy on our shoot day, styling the bride, Kelsey, Amy and myself in addition to her own look.  You can find out more about Nakita’s studio and her floral design on her website.

Stephanie Abitria: Dishful Gourmet

While Stephanie is fairly new to Swift Current, she is not new to creating stunning edible art.  The naked cake she created for this collaboration was to die for, and I happen to know her work tastes great too!  Check out Stephanie’s work for your wedding, birthday party, or just because!  You can find out more on her Facebook page.

Katie & Kristin: Fusion Shop + Salon
Katie & Kristin: Fusion Shop + Salon

Katie and Kristin loaded us up with all kinds of accessories and jewellery for our bride and groom.  They helped me create a look that pulled together the bold look of the decor with the softer look of the gown.  I am so thankful for people like them who are good at styling jewellery, because I am SO not!  Find them online or on Central Avenue.

And I was there too!
Kirstin Patzer: Three Strands Wedding Design

I had so much fun coordinating this shoot!  I wish I could have showcased every single girl boss around, but unfortunately the rest will have to wait for next time.  These ladies made planning a breeze and I would recommend working with each and every one of them.  I hope you enjoyed our little bit of Palm Springs wedding inspiration, right here in SK!
